A website is the storefront of your business – the virtual representation of your brand. Simply put, the first thing which a potential customer will look for is your online presence. An attractive, informative and user-friendly website has the perfect opportunity to impress and hook in your visitors.

As your website is bestowed with the stupendous responsibility of creating the first impression of your business on the minds of your visitors, you cannot afford to make any mistake. You have to pay extra attention to every minute detail and make sure that your website is optimally effective in serving its purpose.

In order to make sure that your visitors get eager to know more about your business, here are 5 things you need to do for your website:

Focus On The Homepage

The homepage of your website is the one which will welcome your visitors. You must remember that a mispositioned introduction or unnecessary animation can turn the visitors off at a massive rate. Keep the loading time intact by using CSS and JS file compression. The color scheme should also be appropriate; it should be easy on the eyes, and should complement the other elements.

Proper & Clear Navigation

This has been one of the major reasons for an increased bounce rate of a website. Your visitors must not get lost when browsing though your website. Avoid going for multi tier drop-downs and flashy menus. Just keep things simple with the navigation. Make sure that the navigation menu is as easy as possible.

Avoid Excessive Banner Ads

Plenty of banner ads in a website – I see this everyday and I’m sure you’ve seen it too. However, recent surveys have revealed that almost every visitors has mastered the art of ignoring these ads. So, why waste the appearance of your website with something which will thoroughly go unnoticed? Visitors must never be pushed to buy a product; and this is why you must rely on guest posting instead.

Don’t Use Splash Pages

Do you know what splash pages are? Websites which use splash pages do not take a visitor directly to the homepage. These pages act like a welcome screen – presenting a layer full of beautiful images, words like “Welcome”, and little details about what a website is all about. Why put up something which your homepage can also do? Avoid giving your visitors  reason to click on the ‘Back’ button.

Include Contact Info & Help Section

You must provide your visitors with your full contact details, like physical address, e-mail, phone number, and social networking sites. Allow them to subscribe to your newsletters. You also need to make sure that you have a proper Help/FAQ/Support section. In this section, a visitor must find the answer in case he is in a fix.

And there is one final golden rule – keep your website interesting, attractive and fully functional. It;s a guarantee that your visitors will come back for more. And when you implement every point discussed above to perfection, there is nothing to stop you from experiencing a higher ROI.
