With Android and Windows making quite a few heads turn and ruling the Smartphone for quite some time now it is time to look for a change. Just when people were casually thinking ‘what next’ Firefox decided to launch its OS and if all goes well then maybe give Android and Windows a run for their money. Whether they are able to make their own niche or fade away only time could tell. But the wait seems to be finally over with the launch of Firefox a couple of weeks back. Firefox OS hit the market by the first week of July and people just cannot get enough of it.

The start

When talking about a new operating system specially when there are quite a few more in the market already to create enough competition it is important that you take a close look at some of the features. Sure this OS has something new to offer that gives it an edge over the others. So let’s have a look at some of the apps and decide for ourselves whether we would prefer this OS for our mobiles or not:

  • Unlike the previous Smartphone powerhouses for instance Apple, Mozilla is aiming to turn over the feature phone users into their domain as well. Mozilla’s plan is not to compete with the other Smartphone companies, instead they are trying to tap in the percentage of people who don’t fancy having a flashy phone but rather a simple device that helps them stay connected and communicate easily. So with this aim in mind Mozilla is all set to make its presence felt.
  • The Firefox OS Stimulator is one great tool that helps you to test your apps frequently. There are quite a few useful tools and to name a few, New Connect Button is a toolbox that helps to connect with a few specific apps. Remote Style Editor is one such app that helps in controlling the editing styles. The Updated Dashboard Design aims to keep it de-cluttered and improves the usability factor. All these tools make Firefox OS an interesting combination that is too hard to resist.
  • The interface of Firefox OS is kept simple and minimalistic with clear demarcations about when the battery requires charging and what are the battery saving alternatives. People say that your phone is a reflection of who you are, Firefox OS is no different so you have the liberty to customize the phone as per your tastes and lifestyle patterns.

Firefox OS seems to have swept a large chunk of the users from the market. Their main focus is the mobile and seeing the response from this they might have plans to expand, reinvent and come up with something new. But till that time comes let us enjoy the luxuries that Firefox OS has in store for us.
